2008-2009 Information
Individual teacher grants are not being accepted this year. In lieu of individual teacher grants, EdUCate! funds will be distributed across the five school cluster to support technology in the classroom. Please submit specific requests to your school principal. Other classroom needs may be addressed through the Teacher Wish List program.

EdUCate's Laptop Program
Working closely with the principals of each school, EdUCate’s Laptop Program was created to provide a total of 230 laptops for classrooms of Curie, Doyle, Spreckels, Standley, and UCHS. Through the generous contributions of our donors, EdUCate is pleased to report that orders have been placed for the first of what will be several tranches of Apple MacBook laptops. The first tranche consisting of 54 laptops will be distributed as follows:

EdUCate chose a “standard” San Diego District configuration to ensure the laptops would be supported over their lifespan by the District. The laptops come out of the box network ready and bundled with pre-installed software making them ready for teachers to use. Training by the District is also being made available helping teachers get the most from their systems.
Much of the teacher enthusiasm for the Laptop Program comes from the success of the document camera program and the complementary nature of the laptops, document cameras and digital projectors. This is a very exciting program because its impact in the classroom will be immediate and significant. It’s a program that both helps teachers and benefits students. |
